Geotechnical and construction materials testing for detention, mass grading, and subdivision infrastructure at the Sanford Farms development.
Scope
Geotechnical and construction materials testing for detention, mass grading, and subdivision infrastructure at the Sanford Farms development.
Site Challenge
Detention ponds, mass grading and subdivision streets and utilities all depend on how well the earthwork is placed. On Houston-area clay, under-compacted fill shows up later as settled pavements and leaking embankments, so the testing had to follow the grading as it moved across the site.
Work Performed
Quartet Engineers provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the Sanford Farms development: subsurface investigation and recommendations for the detention and infrastructure work, then field density testing on mass grading, detention embankments and utility backfill, and concrete testing on structures and paving as construction progressed.
Deliverables
A geotechnical report for the detention and infrastructure design, followed by compaction and concrete test reports and daily field reports issued throughout construction.
